About Me:

  • I'm not great at small talk, but I try.
  • I'm a cat lady, but I totes love my dog.
  • My favorite color is purple.
  • I'm never going to give you up.
  • I'm never going to let you down.
  • Never going to run around & desert you.
  • I want to be way more funny than I am.
  • I'll watch anime until the day I die.
  • I hate mushrooms.
  • I really miss raiding in WoW during the The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansions.

I've always loved technology in some form. I grew up playing Hexen, Age of Empires, and EverQuest, and was enamored of the digital worlds gaming had to offer. Later, I discovered the joys of data and dabbled in Access to keep track of the anime series I was watching and Excel spreadsheets for meal planning. I also got into photo manipulation/enhancement and video editing for a time.

Somehow, these hobbies didn't lead me to initially choose a career in the information technology field. I wanted to be a baker, and I had every intention of going to culinary arts school after getting a business degree. However, I'm not sure if it was the thought of spending my life inside a restaurant or the need for financial stability after college, but that plan didn't pan out. Instead, I applied for a jr. analyst job at corporate governance firm.

It was the best. Decision. EVER! First, it paid the bills. Like most post grads, this was very important. Second, it reignited a spark for data I'd had before but never noticed. Specifically, managing and manipulating data with advanced Excel macros and T-SQL. I fell in love, and from there decided it was what I wanted to do with my life.

I've since branched out to administrator positions, and in doing so discovered SO much more in this line of work. IT is a boundless pursuit, and there's always something new and exciting! It's definitely what I love most about it. There's certainly been lots of steep learning curves and it's been tons of work playing catch up, but I've enjoyed every bit of the experience.
